Marine Biodiversity Conservation Center Aquarium Boka – MonteAqua

The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represented by the Norwegian Embassy in Belgrade, awarded a grant agreement number MNE-17/0004 to the University of Montenegro - the Institute for Marine Biology of the Sea from Kotor for the implementation of the project "Center for the Protection of the Biodiversity of the Sea Boka Aquarium - MonteAqua".

Impact of the project

The expected impact of the project (changes and benefits that will result from the project) is an enhanced process of Montenegro's accession to the European Union in the field of nature protection in relation to aquatic ecosystems and sustainable management of protected aquatic ecosystems.

International Conference: Adriatic Biodiversity Protection

The 2019 International Conference: Adriatic Biodiversity Protection will provide updated scientific, decision-making and policy-relevant information across a broad array of different Adriatic issues, marine biology and related scientific disciplines. Emphasis will be on how state-of- the-art research on Adriatic biodiversity protection, conservation of coastal and marine areas and sustainable use of marine resources can contribute to policy- and decision-making. Particular focus will be put on the development opportunities which marine biotechnology can offer in the Adriatic. Organized to include plenary and breakout sessions covering both disciplinary and interdisciplinary perspectives, Conference results will be used in shaping future marine science priorities and policy in Montenegro and other Adriatic countries.

About us

Institut za Biologiju mora osnovan je 1961. godine. Institut je nekoliko puta mijenjao svoju organizacionu strukturu, bio je pod različitim državnim upravama, a danas je organizaciona jedinica Univerziteta Crne Gore i jedina naučno-istraživačka ustanova u zemlji koja se bavi zaštitom i izučavanjem Jadranskog mora.
