Mirko Đurović

Dr. Mirko Đurović is a Research Associate in the Laboratory of Ichthyology and Marine Fisheries at the Institute of Marine Biology, University of Montenegro in Kotor. He obtained his MSc-equivalent degree at the Department of Biology, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, University of Montenegro in Podgorica in 2003. He defended his doctoral thesis titled “Ecological studies of juvenile anchovy Engraulis encrasicolus (Linnaeus, 1758) (Pisces: Engraulidae) in the Bay of Kotor” in 2012 at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade.

Mirko Đurović has worked at the Institute of Marine Biology since 2004, where he actively participates in the studies of biological resources and contributes to the development of marine fisheries biology in Montenegro. His field of study includes marine fisheries, population dynamics of pelagic and demersal species of fish, and fishery stock management. He is involved with national projects the Institute is engaged in within the developmental projects of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Montenegro dealing with biomass estimation of demersal resources of Montenegrin littoral and determining the optimal exploitation levels. He participates on many bilateral and international projects, among which stand out the projects of scientific monitoring of fieshries in the Adriatic and the Mediterranean (FAO AdriaMed and MEDITS). He was the national lead on the EU IPA project NETCET (Network for Conservation of Marine Mammals and Sea Turtles in the Adriatic), which lasted from 2012 to 2016.
